Irene Mejer

Irene Mejer is the Founder of The Eco Shift, a brand of personal care essentials with the mission to influence people to shift to plastic free products by providing plastic-free essentials that are effective and affordable. The brand aims to assist people to seamlessly shift into a new kind of lifestyle.

Since then, the company has grown its product offerings of handcrafted, natural, plastic free essentials with the vision to help shape a world wherein plastic use becomes the exception rather than the norm.

In 2024, Irene was nominated to participate in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), the U.S. Department of State’s premier professional exchange program on Women Entrepreneurship and Empowerment. Together with other current and emerging women leaders from all over the world they explored and learned the role and challenges of women in business, capacity building and the opportunities available for women in business in the Unites States.

She also represented the Philippines during The Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC)Green Transformation Summit in Taipei in 2023, wherein she shared best practice and social impact with fellow green entrepreneurs from the Asia Pacific region.

In 2022 , Irene was awarded by the President of the Philippines as one of the Most Inspiring Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) for 2022. A recognition given by Go Negosyo and the Philippines Department of Trade Industry.

Her innovative solution in ending plastic pollution (CORS or coin operated refillery systems) is one of the finalists for the United Nations Development Program Ending Plastic Pollution Innovation Challenge in Southeast Asia 2021.

She had been featured in multiple media channels like CNN and ANC among others to share about her advocacy on shifting to plastic free options when available.

In her free time Irene likes to read and watch documentaries.

She hasn’t bought a single bottled water or shampoo in a bottle or sachet since 2018.
